The 5-magnitude earthquake that struck southwest China's Sichuan Province Tuesday caused no casualties or apparent damage, the local government said Wednesday.

The quake struck the boundary region of Dujiangyan and Pengzhou cities at 2:11 p.m., and was felt in the neighboring cities of Chengdu, Mianyang and Meishan.

The Sichuan Provincial Seismological Bureau said the tremor was an aftershock of the 8-magnitude quake that struck Sichuan's Wenchuan County on May 12, 2008, and left 87,000 people dead or missing and millions homeless.

The bureau sent three teams to assess damage and losses in more than 10 villages and towns, but no serious damage was reported. In Wenchuan County, rolling stones hit a car, but caused no injury.

Yuan Hailiang, spokesman with the Chengdu quake prevention and quake relief bureau, said most houses in Dujiangyan and Pengzhou had been rebuilt after the Wenchuan quake. "These new houses were built with stronger quake resistance capability, so no damage was done this time."

Railway authorities suspended train services to Dujiangyan for two hours for a thorough inspection to ensure the tracks were safe, said Tian Hai, an official with the Chengdu Railway Bureau.
