The Los Angeles County coroner's office has indefinitely delayed the release of Michael Jackson's autopsy results, which was initially expected to take place last week, officials said July 31.

The delay comes amid sings that police investigators are trying to determine the interplay between the pop star's personal physician, Conrad Murray, and other medical professionals who treated Jackson in the months leading up to his death last month.

The coroner's office decided to delay the release of the autopsy report after officials from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, the Los Angeles Police Department and the coroner's office had a meeting to discuss the case, according to Ed Winter, assistant chief of the coroner's office.

Winter said he could not say when the cause of death of the late King of Pop would be announced.

According to the Los Angeles Times, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told the newspaper that the coroner's staff asked for the delay but that there were no disagreements in the multi-agency probe.

Court records indicated that police investigators were looking for evidence of communications between Murray and other health practitioners.

Investigators searched Murray's home and office in Las Vegas earlier this week, seizing e-mails, letters and notes between the cardiologist, Jackson and other doctors who treated the singer.

The results of toxicology tests from the official autopsy on Jackson's body were widely expected to show that Jackson was taking propofol, a strong sedative usually used in a hospital setting for general anaesthesia.
