Police has initiated investigations over a recent microblog post claiming a family of three was ripped off in a restaurant in Sanya.
Hainan Special Zone News followed up to report the family of three paid nearly 4,000 yuan for three ordinary dishes in Fulin Fishery Village, and witnessed the neighboring table spend some 6,000 on one fish under the intimidation of several tough guys.
Local business administration departments as well as police have launched an investigation and said the restaurant would face severe penalty if the claims are found to be true.
The accused restaurant has suspended its business, and the owner said he was framed in the allegations.
