8 Guan Ramen: A Bowl of Ramen's Soul
At the door, a sign reads "8 Guan Ramen, Capturing Ramen's Soul." Awkward wording aside, the chefs here have devoted both time and effort to master making ramen. Waking up at 4 o'clock every morning to prepare the broth for the day, chefs at 8 Guan boil about 16 kg of pork meat and 35 kg of various chicken parts for at least six hours.[Photo:163.com]
Natural flavor, want to eat eight bowls of ramen a week?
The chicken ramen is a popular choice here. With a strict cooking time of one minute and 40 seconds to ensure the noodles are fully cooked, chefs here say that this particular ramen offers a refreshing taste to patrons. However, chicken ramen isn't the only thing on the menu, as there are more than 10 kinds of ramen, with an even wider range of tastes, as 8 Guan will put sauces to alter taste in the bowl before the soup is poured, to maximize the flavor of the ingredients and assure that each bowl of ramen has a taste of its own.[Photo:163.com]
The restaurant has a slogan up saying "You'll want to eat eight bowls of ramen a week," suggesting that just one bowl of ramen eaten here per day isn't enough. With its wide variety of ramen and flavors, the three must-try soups are the pork ramen, the Xin Su Dan Dan ramen and the Kobe beef tendon ramen. [Photo:163.com]
